LPGA TOUR Player Angela Jerman Signs Deal to Educate Americans on Potential Risks of Sun Damage

BERWYN, PA — September 16, 2004 — Second year LPGA TOUR golf professional Angela Jerman has joined forces with Dermik Laboratories to help raise awareness and educate the women's golf community about the importance of healthy skin. Angela will be working directly with Dermik Laboratories as a consultant on various concepts for educating the golfing public on sun protection. Angela will also be wearing the Dermik Laboratories company logo on her apparel for the remainder of 2004 and throughout the 2005 LPGA tournament season.

"Our profession puts us at a higher risk of sun-related conditions due to sun exposure," said Angela Jerman, LPGA TOUR golf professional. "I am hoping we can raise awareness among the millions of Americans who are golf enthusiasts about the dangers of sun exposure and what steps they can take to minimize their risk. An additional goal is to encourage the local community to be proactive about their skin health and go to the dermatologist for a regular check-up."

Angela will also be working with the WDS at selected LPGA events this fall and in 2005 as their spokesperson for the "Play Safe in the Sun" campaign. This community service outreach program is designed to educate the golf community about skin cancer prevention and sun protection by providing free skin cancer screenings along with educational materials. The campaign is a part of the American Academy of Dermatology National Skin Cancer Volunteer Screening Initiative. Angela will join the campaign as its official spokesperson at the Safeway Classic in Portland, OR the week of September 14th. At these events, local board-certified dermatologists will provide free skin cancer screenings. Consumers will also have an opportunity to have their photo taken with a special UV-camera that will show the extent of existing sun damage on their face at the WDS sponsorship tent.
